About this tool
Cubic Yards Calculator is a free, in-browser tool for the volume of any bulk material — soil, mulch, sand, dirt or fill. Each of the three dimensions has its own unit selector (feet, inches, yards, centimeters or meters), so you can mix units freely without converting by hand. Everything is computed locally; nothing is uploaded.
Each dimension is converted to feet (inches ÷ 12, yards × 3, cm × 0.0328084, m × 3.28084), then volume in cubic feet is length × width × depth × quantity. Cubic yards divide that by 27 and cubic meters multiply by 0.0283168. If you enter a price per cubic yard, a total-cost tile appears (cubic yards × price).
Use it whenever a supplier sells by the cubic yard but your measurements are in mixed units — measure an area in feet and a depth in inches, and the tool reconciles them. The optional price field turns a volume estimate straight into a delivery budget.
