How is the projected balance worked out?
It adds the future value of your current savings (compounded as a lump sum) to the future value of your monthly contributions (an ordinary annuity), using your annual return divided into monthly periods.

No. The projection assumes a constant return every month, which real markets never deliver, so treat the result as an estimate rather than a promise.
