The base unit is the newton-metre (N·m). Each unit has a factor to N·m, so conversions are value × from-factor ÷ to-factor. The most-used automotive conversion is pound-force foot: 1 lbf·ft = 1.3558179483 N·m, so a 1 N·m value ≈ 0.7376 lbf·ft. Do not confuse lbf·ft (foot) with lbf·in (inch), which is twelve times smaller.
