About this tool

Enter your bust, waist and hip measurements in inches or centimetres and this calculator returns a women's dress size. It maps each measurement to a size on a standard body chart and reports the largest of the three as your US size — because a garment has to clear your widest area — then converts that to UK, EU, Italian and French numbers, and tells you which measurement drove the result. It runs entirely in your browser.

The core method uses a published US women's size chart: each size (0–20) lists a nominal bust, waist and hip. For every measurement the tool picks the smallest size whose chart value covers it, then takes the maximum of the three sizes so nothing is too tight. Regional conversions follow the common conventions UK = US + 4, EU = US + 30, IT = US + 34 and FR = US + 32. The 'driven by' field shows which measurement set the size, which is a hint about where you may need tailoring.

Measure over light clothing with a relaxed tape: bust around the fullest part, waist at the narrowest point, hips around the fullest part of the seat. These sizes are approximate and vary by brand and country, and cut, stretch and vanity sizing all shift the fit, so check the specific brand's chart before buying.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the calculator take the largest size?
A dress must fit your widest measurement, so if your hips map to a 10 but your bust to an 8, the 10 is chosen and the waist can be taken in. The 'driven by' field shows which measurement set that size.
How do the UK, EU, IT and FR numbers relate to US?
Using the common conventions: UK is US + 4, EU is US + 30, Italian is US + 34 and French is US + 32. So a US 8 is about a UK 12, EU 38, IT 42 and FR 40 — approximate labels, not exact fits.
What if my measurements suggest different sizes?
That is normal — few bodies match one size in all three areas. The tool sizes to your largest measurement and flags the driver, so you know whether to plan for tailoring at the waist, bust or hip.
Are these dress sizes reliable across brands?
They are a guide. Vanity sizing, different fit models and country standards mean the same body can be several sizes apart between labels. Always confirm against the brand's own measurement chart.
