About this tool
Infill Weight & Filament Estimator is a free, in-browser tool that predicts how much filament a print will use — in grams and metres — straight from the model's volume, its infill percentage and how much of it is solid shell. It is handy for quoting a job or checking whether the filament left on a spool is enough, without having to slice first. Nothing is uploaded; all maths runs locally.
At 100% solid the weight is simply density × volume (PLA 1.24, ABS 1.04, PETG 1.27, TPU 1.21 g/cm³). Real prints are lighter because only the shell is solid and the interior is filled to the infill percentage, so the effective solid fraction is f = wallFraction + (1 − wallFraction) × infill%, and the estimated weight is density × volume × f. Filament length comes from the used volume divided by the strand's cross-sectional area, π(d/2)², for a 1.75 mm or 2.85 mm filament.
Use it to compare how much material 10% versus 40% infill costs, or to size a spool before a long print. It is an estimate — actual slicer output varies with perimeters, top/bottom layers and infill pattern — but it lands within a sensible margin.
