Mileage Reimbursement Calculator

Calculate mileage reimbursement from miles driven and editable cents-per-mile rates for business, medical or charity trips.

Defaults are the 2024 US IRS standard mileage rates. Rates change yearly — verify the current rate for your tax year and edit above.

About this tool

Mileage Reimbursement Calculator is a free, in-browser tool that turns miles driven into a reimbursement amount using cents-per-mile rates. Log multiple trips, pick a purpose for each, and the total reimbursement, total miles and effective rate update as you type. Every rate is editable and nothing is uploaded.

Each trip's reimbursement is miles × rate ÷ 100 (the rate is in cents per mile, so dividing by 100 gives dollars), and the totals sum every trip. The defaults are the 2024 US IRS standard mileage rates: 67¢ per mile for business, 21¢ for medical or moving, and 14¢ for charity. These rates change every year — verify the current figures for your tax year and edit the boxes above before relying on the result.

Use it to build an expense claim, reimburse an employee, or estimate a deduction. Mix business, medical and charity trips freely; the effective-rate tile shows the blended cents per mile across everything you entered.

Frequently asked questions

How is each trip's reimbursement calculated?
Reimbursement is miles × the cents-per-mile rate for that trip's purpose, divided by 100 to convert cents into dollars. All trips are added together for the total.
Are the default rates current?
The defaults are the 2024 US IRS standard mileage rates (67¢ business, 21¢ medical/moving, 14¢ charity). Rates are updated annually and sometimes mid-year, so confirm the rate for your tax year and edit the fields — the charity rate is fixed by statute at 14¢.
What does the effective rate tile show?
When you mix trip types, the effective rate is total reimbursement divided by total miles, expressed in cents per mile — a blended average. With a single purpose it equals that purpose's rate.
Is my trip data private?
Yes. Miles, purposes and rates are processed entirely in your browser; nothing about your driving is uploaded.
