Frequently asked questions
What is military time?
Military time is the 24-hour clock written without a colon, with a leading zero on the hour — so 2:30 PM becomes 1430 ("fourteen thirty"). Midnight is 0000 and noon is 1200.
How do I convert PM to 24-hour time?
For PM times, add 12 to the hour — 1:00 PM is 13:00, 6:45 PM is 18:45. The exception is 12 PM (noon), which stays 12:00. For AM times the hour is unchanged, except 12 AM (midnight) which becomes 00:00.
Is midnight 0000 or 2400?
Both are used, but the most common convention — and the one this tool uses — writes midnight as 0000 (the start of the day).
