Vinyl Wrap Material Calculator is a free, in-browser tool that estimates how much wrap film you need to buy for a vehicle. Pick a body size, choose full, partial or accent coverage, set a waste allowance and your roll width, and it returns the total square footage plus the linear length in feet and yards. All math runs locally in your browser.
It starts from a full-wrap surface-area preset for the body style (for example a sedan is about 220 sq ft, a full-size SUV about 290, a pickup about 280). Total material = base sq ft × coverage % × (1 + waste ÷ 100). The linear feet of film is that area divided by the roll width in feet (roll width ÷ 12), and yards is simply linear feet ÷ 3.
Use it to size an order before you buy: the default 15% waste covers ordinary trimming and mistakes, but complex curves, bumpers, mirrors and inlays make a professional installer use more. Treat the result as a floor and round up to whole rolls or add a margin for a first attempt.

How is the square footage calculated?
The tool takes a full-wrap surface-area preset for the body style you pick, multiplies by the coverage percentage (full = 100%, partial ≈ 50%, roof/hood ≈ 15%), then adds the waste allowance: area = base × coverage × (1 + waste ÷ 100).
How do square feet become linear feet and yards?
Vinyl is sold by length off a roll of fixed width. Linear feet = square feet ÷ (roll width in inches ÷ 12), so a 60-inch roll is 5 ft wide. Yards is linear feet ÷ 3. Enter your actual roll width to match a specific product.
Why does a real installer use more film than this estimate?
Compound curves, deep bumpers, mirror caps, door jambs and pattern-matching all force extra material and offcuts. The 15% default waste suits simple panels; raise it toward 25-30% for a full wrap with lots of contours or if you are new to wrapping.
