About this tool
Bead Count & Bead-Weaving Calculator is a free, in-browser tool for jewelry makers and bead weavers who need to know how many beads a strand, row or full project takes. Pick a seed-bead size or enter a custom bead diameter, set the finished length and the number of strands or rows, and it returns the total bead count along with beads per inch and per centimeter. Everything is computed locally — nothing is uploaded.
The method treats each bead as occupying its own diameter along the thread, so beads per inch = 25.4 ÷ bead width in millimeters and beads per centimeter = 10 ÷ bead width. The total is the length (converted to millimeters) divided by the bead size, multiplied by the number of strands, then rounded down to whole beads. For the seed-bead presets — 15/0 (1.5 mm), 11/0 (2.1 mm), 8/0 (3.0 mm), 6/0 (4.0 mm) and more — the tool also estimates grams needed using typical beads-per-gram figures, so you can buy the right size tube or hank.
Use the custom size for round beads, gemstones or bugles: an 8-inch strand of 6 mm rounds, for example, works out to about 33 beads. Bead weights vary by material and finish, so treat the gram figure as a close estimate and round up when ordering.
