About this tool
The Detailing Dilution Ratio Calculator tells you exactly how much concentrated product and how much water to combine to hit a chosen dilution for a given container. Car-care concentrates — all-purpose cleaners, wheel cleaners, waterless washes, quick detailers — are labelled with a ratio like 1:10 or a percentage, and getting that mix right protects surfaces and saves expensive product. Enter your ratio and bottle size and the tool splits the total into product and water.
The math is simple but easy to get wrong. For a ratio R:1 (parts water to one part product) in a container of size B, product = B / (R + 1) and water = B − product. The same mix expressed as ounces of concentrate per US gallon is 128 / (R + 1), the number most detailing labels actually quote. In percent mode the product volume is simply B × percent/100. Everything is computed in millilitres internally and shown in both fluid ounces and millilitres so it works with US or metric bottles.
All results update live as you type, and the calculation runs entirely in your browser with nothing uploaded. Use it to fill a 32 oz spray bottle at 1:10, batch a 5-gallon bucket of wash, or convert a percentage on a European label into a usable oz-per-gallon figure. Always follow the manufacturer's recommended dilution for your specific product and surface.
