The Paint Mix Ratio Calculator splits a batch of automotive paint into its base, hardener (activator), and reducer parts according to a mixing ratio such as 4:1:1 or 8:1. Two-component (2K) paints, clearcoats, and primers must be catalysed in exact proportions — the ratio printed on the can (paint : hardener : reducer) determines how the product cures, so mixing it accurately is essential for gloss, hardness, and durability.

Enter the ratio as up to three colon-separated parts. Given a target total volume T, each component is T × part ÷ sum(parts). Alternatively, if you already have a fixed amount of one component — say you poured a known volume of base — the tool computes a unit of "one part" as that volume ÷ its part number, then multiplies each part by that unit, so the whole batch scales exactly to what you have. Results are shown in your chosen unit (millilitres or fluid ounces) for every component plus the total mixed volume.

What does a ratio like 4:1:1 mean?
It means 4 parts base (colour or clear) to 1 part hardener to 1 part reducer, by volume. The parts share the total: 4:1:1 sums to 6, so the base is 4/6 of the batch, and the hardener and reducer are each 1/6.
Can I use a two-part ratio like 2:1?
Yes. Enter just two numbers (e.g. 2:1 or 8:1) and the reducer part is treated as zero. The tool then splits the total between base and hardener only. It accepts one, two, or three parts.
How do I scale from an amount I already poured?
Set the basis to the component you measured (base, hardener, or reducer) and enter that amount. The tool finds how much one "part" is from your value and rebuilds the full batch around it, so nothing is wasted.
Are the ratios by volume or by weight?
This calculator works by volume, which is how most automotive 2K ratios are specified and measured with a mixing cup or ratio stick. If your product's data sheet gives the ratio by weight, follow the sheet and use a scale instead.
