3D Print Cost & Pricing Estimator is a free, in-browser tool that builds the true cost of an FDM print from the ground up — material, electricity, machine depreciation, labor, a failure buffer and your profit margin — so you can quote a fair price or check what a part really costs to make.
Each line is transparent: material = grams ÷ 1000 × price per kg; electricity = watts ÷ 1000 × hours × rate per kWh; machine wear = printer price ÷ lifetime hours × print hours; labor = minutes ÷ 60 × hourly rate. The subtotal of those four is multiplied by (1 + failure %) to cover reprints, then by (1 + margin %) to set the sale price.
Use it to move beyond "just the filament": a long print draws real power and machine hours, and post-processing time is often the biggest cost. Leave any optional field at zero to drop it from the total. All figures are computed locally in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
How is machine wear (depreciation) calculated?
It spreads the printer's purchase price over its expected lifetime in hours: wear = price ÷ lifetime hours × the hours this print takes. Set the lifetime to zero to skip depreciation entirely.
What do the failure buffer and margin do?
The failure buffer inflates the subtotal by a percentage to cover reprints from failed jobs. The margin is then added on top of that to produce your selling price — set either to zero to exclude it.
How do I estimate the electricity cost?
Enter your printer's average power draw in watts (a typical FDM machine pulls 80–150 W), the print time in hours and your electricity rate per kWh. Electricity is usually a small share of the total, but the tool includes it for accuracy.
Does it use a specific currency?
No. It is currency-neutral — enter all prices in whatever currency you use and the total comes out in the same one. Everything is computed in your browser and never uploaded.
