About this tool

The Scrabble Score Calculator adds up the point value of every tile in a word using the standard English Scrabble letter values: A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T and R are worth 1 point; D and G are 2; B, C, M and P are 3; F, H, V, W and Y are 4; K is 5; J and X are 8; and Q and Z are the top-scoring 10-point tiles. Type any word and the base total updates instantly, along with a numbered per-letter breakdown so you can see exactly where the points come from.

The tool also handles board premiums. Choose a double-word or triple-word multiplier for the whole play, and list the 1-based letter positions that land on double-letter (DL) or triple-letter (TL) squares — the breakdown shows each boosted tile and the final total applies letter premiums first, then the word multiplier, exactly as the official rules require. Tick the bingo option to add the +50 bonus you earn for using all seven tiles in a single turn.

Everything runs locally in your browser with plain JavaScript; nothing you type is uploaded. This tool computes the point value only and does not check whether the word is legal in a tournament dictionary, so pair it with a word-finder when you need to confirm playability.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Scrabble letter values?
A/E/I/O/U/L/N/S/T/R = 1, D/G = 2, B/C/M/P = 3, F/H/V/W/Y = 4, K = 5, J/X = 8, and Q/Z = 10. Blank tiles score 0. This calculator sums those values for every letter in your word.
How do the double and triple squares work?
Letter premiums apply first: mark the positions on double-letter (×2) or triple-letter (×3) squares. Then the word multiplier (double word ×2 or triple word ×3) multiplies the whole adjusted total. The breakdown shows each step.
What is the +50 bingo bonus?
In Scrabble, playing all seven of your tiles in one turn earns a 50-point bonus, called a bingo. Tick the bingo box and, when your word has at least seven letters, the tool adds 50 to the final score after multipliers.
Does it check if the word is valid?
No. This calculator only totals the tile points; it does not verify the word against a Scrabble dictionary. Use a Scrabble word finder or dictionary tool to confirm a word is actually playable.
