Air Fryer Conversion Calculator

Convert an oven temperature and time to air-fryer settings: lower the heat and cut the cook time.

About this tool

Air Fryer Conversion Calculator is a free, in-browser tool that adapts oven cooking instructions to an air fryer. An air fryer moves hot air fast, so it cooks hotter and quicker than a conventional oven — the same recipe needs a lower temperature and less time. All figures are worked out on your device with nothing uploaded.

The rule is simple and widely used: drop the temperature by about 25°F (or 15°C) and multiply the cook time by 0.8 (a 20% reduction). So a dish set for 400°F for 25 minutes in the oven becomes roughly 375°F for 20 minutes in the air fryer.

Because air fryers vary by model and basket size, treat the result as a starting point. Check food a few minutes early and shake the basket or flip halfway through for even browning.

Frequently asked questions

What conversion rule does it use?
Air-fryer temperature = oven temperature − 25°F (or − 15°C), and air-fryer time = oven time × 0.8, a 20% reduction. These are the common rules of thumb for adapting oven recipes.
Why does the air fryer need a lower temperature?
Its fan circulates hot air directly over the food, so heat transfers faster than in a static oven. Keeping the oven temperature would over-brown the outside before the inside is done.
Should I still check on the food?
Yes. Models differ in power and basket size, so the calculated time is a guide. Check a few minutes early and shake or flip for even cooking, especially with fries, wings and vegetables.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The temperature and time conversion is calculated entirely in your browser and works offline.
