About this tool
Oven Temperature Converter is a free, in-browser tool that translates any oven setting between Celsius, Fahrenheit and the UK gas mark scale, and gives the fan-oven equivalent. Choose which unit your value is in and it fills in the other two instantly, entirely on your device.
Celsius and Fahrenheit convert with the standard formulas: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 and °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. Gas marks map to fixed temperatures (gas ¼ ≈ 110°C up to gas 9 ≈ 240°C); the tool picks the nearest mark to your temperature. The fan-oven figure subtracts 20°C from the conventional temperature, the usual allowance for a fan-assisted oven, and a description labels the heat as cool, moderate, hot or very hot.
Use it when a recipe quotes an unfamiliar unit — an American recipe in Fahrenheit, a British one in gas marks, or a European one in Celsius — and set your fan oven about 20°C lower than a stated conventional temperature.
