About this tool
The Weight & Balance / CG Calculator works out an aircraft's total weight, total moment and center of gravity from a loading table. Add a row for each station — empty aircraft, crew, passengers, fuel, baggage — with its weight and arm, and the tool computes the moment for each and the resulting CG. You can add or remove rows freely, and everything is calculated locally in your browser.
Each station's moment is weight × arm. The center of gravity is the sum of all moments divided by the sum of all weights: CG = Σ(weight × arm) ÷ Σweight. Enter your optional forward and aft CG limits and the tool flags whether the loaded CG falls forward of, within, or aft of the envelope.
Use consistent units throughout — pounds and inches, or kilograms and millimetres — since the arm units cancel in the CG. This tool does not know your aircraft's real limits or maximum weights, so always confirm the loaded weight and CG against your aircraft's official POH/AFM loading envelope before flight.

How is center of gravity calculated?
For each station the moment is weight × arm. The CG is the total of all moments divided by the total of all weights: CG = Σ(weight × arm) ÷ Σweight. It is a weighted average of the arms, so heavier stations pull the CG toward their position.
What is an arm and a moment?
The arm is the horizontal distance from the reference datum to a station (positive aft). The moment is weight × arm and represents that load's turning effect about the datum. Adding moments and dividing by total weight gives the balance point.
What do the forward and aft limits do?
They are your aircraft's CG envelope. If the computed CG is less than the forward limit it flags forward of limits; greater than the aft limit flags aft of limits; between them it reads within limits. Leave them blank to just compute the CG.
Which units should I use?
Any consistent set — pounds with inches, or kilograms with millimetres. The arm units cancel when dividing moment by weight, so the CG comes out in your chosen length unit. Always verify against the official POH/AFM before loading the aircraft.
