About this tool
Enter your bust, waist, hips and (optionally) shoulder width in the same unit and this calculator classifies your body shape — hourglass, pear (triangle), inverted triangle, rectangle or apple — from the ratios between the measurements. It also shows the bust : waist : hip figures and your waist-to-hip ratio, plus a short styling note. This is a fun, for-reference guide, not medical or health advice; it runs entirely in your browser.
The rules are applied in order and the first match wins. If the waist is the largest measurement it is an apple. Otherwise, if bust and hips are within 5% of each other and the waist is no more than 75% of the bust, it is an hourglass (a defined waist with balanced top and bottom). If the hips are more than 5% larger than the bust it is a pear/triangle; if the bust or shoulder is more than 5% larger than the hips it is an inverted triangle. If none of these apply — bust and hips roughly equal but little waist definition — it is a rectangle.
Measure the fullest part of the bust and hips and the narrowest part of the waist, keeping the tape level. Because the classification is based only on circumference ratios, the unit you use does not change the result. Use it as a light-hearted starting point for styling ideas — real bodies rarely fit one box perfectly.
