Triathlon Split & Finish-Time Calculator

Add swim, T1, bike, T2 and run splits into a total finish time with each leg's pace and share, for Sprint, Olympic, 70.3, Ironman or custom distances.

Simple summation of your entered splits; transitions default to zero if blank.

About this tool

The Triathlon Split & Finish-Time Calculator sums your swim, first transition (T1), bike, second transition (T2) and run times into a total finish time, and shows the pace and percentage of the race each leg takes. Preset distances cover Sprint (0.75 / 20 / 5 km), Olympic (1.5 / 40 / 10), 70.3 (1.9 / 90 / 21.0975) and Ironman (3.8 / 180 / 42.195), or you can enter your own. All maths is plain addition done in your browser.

Each leg is also broken down: swim pace is time ÷ (distance ÷ 100 m); bike speed is distance ÷ time in km/h (or mph); run pace is time ÷ distance per km (or mile). The share of total is simply leg time ÷ total × 100, which quickly shows where your race is won or lost — for most athletes the bike and run dominate while transitions are a small but often-neglected slice.

An optional goal-finish box works backwards: enter a target total and the tool holds your swim, bike and transition times fixed and returns the run time and pace you would need to hit the goal (goal − swim − bike − T1 − T2). If that leaves no time, it flags the goal as out of reach. Switch between metric and imperial for the bike and run outputs.

Frequently asked questions

How is the finish time calculated?
It is the sum of all five segments: swim + T1 + bike + T2 + run. Transitions default to zero if left blank. The tool also reports each leg as a percentage of the total so you can see where your time goes.
Which preset distances are included?
Sprint (0.75 km swim / 20 km bike / 5 km run), Olympic (1.5 / 40 / 10), 70.3 (1.9 / 90 / 21.0975) and Ironman (3.8 / 180 / 42.195). Choosing Custom lets you type any swim, bike and run distance.
What does the goal-finish box do?
Enter a target total time and the calculator subtracts your swim, bike and both transition times, returning the run time and pace needed to hit that goal. If the fixed legs already exceed the goal it marks it as not achievable.
How are the leg paces expressed?
Swim is shown per 100 m, the bike as an average speed in km/h or mph, and the run as pace per kilometre or mile. Toggle metric or imperial to switch the bike and run units.
