The Cake Servings Calculator is a free, in-browser tool that answers the two questions every cake order raises: how many servings will this cake yield, and what size cake do I need for my guests? It works from standard Wilton-style serving charts for round, square, and sheet cakes, and lets you choose the slice size — wedding (a slim 1 × 2 × 4 in slice) or the larger party slice, which yields about 30% fewer servings. Everything runs locally in your browser and nothing you enter is uploaded.
In servings-from-size mode you pick a shape and up to three tier sizes, and the tool sums the chart servings for each tier. Round wedding servings run 6 in → 12, 8 in → 24, 10 in → 38, 12 in → 56, and up to 16 in → 100; squares yield more per inch (8 in → 32, 10 in → 50); and sheet cakes give a quarter (9 × 13 in) → 24, half (12 × 18 in) → 54, and full (18 × 24 in) → 108. Choosing the party slice multiplies the total by 0.7. In size-from-guests mode you enter a target headcount and the tool finds both the smallest single round tier that covers it and the most efficient two- or three-tier stack.
As a worked example, a classic 6 + 8 + 10 in round tiered cake yields 12 + 24 + 38 = 74 wedding servings, or about 52 with generous party slices. Working backward, 80 guests needs a 14 in single tier (78 rounds up to a stack) or a compact multi-tier stack the tool selects for least waste. Serving counts assume clean, even cuts by an experienced cutter; casual home slicing tends to run larger, so size up if your guests like big pieces.
