About this tool

The Period Calculator predicts your upcoming cycle from the first day of your last period, your average cycle length and how long your period lasts. Every date is worked out live in your browser and nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

Each future period start is your last start plus a whole number of cycles (last + cycle, + 2× cycle, + 3× cycle). Estimated ovulation is taken as 14 days before your next period, and the fertile window spans from 5 days before ovulation to 1 day after it. All arithmetic is done with UTC day counts, so a daylight-saving change can never shift a predicted date by a day.

Frequently asked questions

How are the period dates predicted?
Each predicted start is your last period start plus multiples of your cycle length — so with a 28-day cycle the next three fall about 28, 56 and 84 days after your last one.
How is ovulation estimated?
It is placed 14 days before the next predicted period, following the common luteal-phase assumption. Your fertile window runs from 5 days before to 1 day after that estimated ovulation day.
Can I use this for birth control?
No. This is an estimate, not a contraception method. Cycles and ovulation shift naturally, so never rely on these dates to prevent pregnancy — use a proven method and consult a professional.
What cycle length should I enter?
Enter your typical cycle in days (21–35 is normal, 28 is the default) measured from the first day of one period to the first day of the next. A more accurate average gives better predictions.
