About this tool

This tool computes the two most common powerlifting scores, Wilks and DOTS, which normalize a lifter's total so athletes of different bodyweights can be compared. It runs in your browser and stores nothing.

Both scores multiply your total by a coefficient that depends on bodyweight. The Wilks coefficient is 500 / (a + b·x + c·x² + d·x³ + e·x⁴ + f·x⁵), and the DOTS coefficient is 500 / (A + B·x + C·x² + D·x³ + E·x⁴), where x is bodyweight in kilograms and the constants a…f and A…E are the published sex-specific values. Your score is the total in kilograms multiplied by that coefficient. Weights entered in pounds are converted to kilograms first using 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Wilks and DOTS?
Both normalize a total for bodyweight, but they use different polynomials. DOTS is a newer formula intended to be fairer across the weight range; many federations have moved toward it.
Should I enter bodyweight in kg or lb?
Either. Pick the unit next to each field; pounds are converted to kilograms with 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg before the coefficient is calculated.
Does sex change the result?
Yes. Wilks and DOTS both use separate constants for male and female lifters, so selecting the correct sex is important for an accurate score.
Is this an official score?
No. It is general information for comparison and self-tracking. Official meet results use your federation's approved formula and verified lifts, and this is not medical or coaching advice.
