About this tool

The Standing Long Jump (Broad Jump) Score rates a two-footed standing jump against published adult normative bands and gives an approximate percentile and a qualitative rating from very poor to excellent. The standing long jump is a simple field test of explosive lower-body power. Everything is computed locally in your browser and accepts centimetres or inches (1 in = 2.54 cm).

Ratings use adult general-population bands. For men (cm): excellent above 250, very good 241–250, above average 231–240, average 221–230, below average 211–220, poor 191–210 and very poor below 191. For women: excellent above 200, very good 191–200, above average 181–190, average 171–180, below average 161–170, poor 141–160 and very poor below 141. Your distance is placed in a band and an approximate percentile is estimated by piecewise-linear interpolation of the band midpoints onto a percentile scale (very poor ≈ 5, poor ≈ 20, below average ≈ 35, average ≈ 50, above average ≈ 65, very good ≈ 80, excellent ≈ 95).

An optional standing-height input adds a relative index — jump distance divided by height — so athletes of different sizes can be compared more fairly. These are general fitness benchmarks for healthy adults, not a diagnostic or clinical assessment, and technique and warm-up strongly affect results.

How is my jump rated?
Your distance is converted to centimetres and matched against sex-specific adult bands, returning a label from very poor to excellent. A rough percentile is then interpolated between the band midpoints on a 1–99 scale.
Do I measure to the heels or toes?
Standard field-test protocol measures from the take-off line to the nearest point of contact on landing — usually the back of the heels. Jump with both feet, swinging the arms, and take the best of a few attempts after warming up.
What is the relative index?
If you enter your standing height, the tool divides jump distance by height to give a size-adjusted ratio. It lets a shorter and a taller athlete be compared more fairly, since taller people tend to jump slightly farther in absolute terms.
Are these norms exact?
No. They are general adult reference bands and the percentile is an approximation from band midpoints, not a validated population survey. Use them as a training benchmark, not a medical or selection-grade measurement.
